  • Responsibilities + duties

    Day to day would include

    • Checking of products on sites
    • Review of supporting evidence provided to sign EHCs
    • Reading relevant legislation and guidance notes
    • Stamping and signing of EHCs
    • Dealing with any exporter queries/advice
    • Maintaining a good working relationship with other staff on the sites
  • Candidate Suitability/Qualifications

    You’ll need to have

    • A veterinary degree
    • Eligibility for RCVS
    • OCQ courses ES, EX and PX – we’re happy to support and fund this qualification
    • A full driving licence and your own transport

    Travelling to our client sites is the main aspect of the role.  Some work is done remotely from home, with laptop, printer and phone provided.

    There is lots of variety within the role and therefore no ‘typical’ day, but roughly 25% of time is travelling, 55% of time is spent on client sites and around 20% of time spent working remotely from home.

  • Interview process details

    As our team is located all over the UK we tend to opt for Teams interviews. You’ll have an initial Teams interview with the Regional Manager for your area, our HR Manager sometimes joins this call too. A second Teams interview would be with our Managing Director.

    Our Teams interviews are always informal. We don’t think formality gives the best insight as to whether you’d be right for us, and whether Amivet is right for you. We genuinely like to find out as much as we can about you and your career history, so we’ll have an idea of how you could fit into our team.

    We also like to give an honest overview of the role, we’d never want someone to join our team and say the job wasn’t what they had expected it to be!

  • Position role reports to

    The role reports to one of our Regional Managers.

    In addition to the support of your manager, we hold regular team meetings and 1:1’s, we also have peer What’s App groups for queries while you’re out on site.  We also have our unique Hive Mind which is essentially a collective knowledge base.

  • Support for global/foreign candidates

Job Description

Official Veterinarian For Food/Product Export Certification

Area – North West Field Based

Amivet Ltd is a nationwide company and a leading provider of export health certificates for the export of food and other products of animal origin from GB.

We are currently recruiting for an Official Veterinarian to join our North Team. No experience is required, as full comprehensive training and support will be provided. However, we are also keen for applicants with previous export experience to apply, who may wish to progress their career to a position with additional responsibilities or supervisory/managerial roles. A good eye for detail, flexibility and a willingness to travel where needed are the main requirements. You will be using your veterinary knowledge to ensure the safety of public and animal health.

Day to day tasks will include:

  • Checking of products on sites
  • Review of supporting evidence provided to sign EHCs
  • Reading relevant legislation and guidance notes
  • Stamping and signing of EHCs
  • Dealing with any exporter queries/advice
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with other staff on the sites

The work will be a mix of on-site work, travel and some home based work. The majority of locations will be less than 1-1.5 hours travel. We will consider full time (40 hour) or part time/job share applications for these roles. The work is usually between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, however some days might be short days, other days may be longer, within the week. There is also no abattoir work involved. There may occasionally be opportunities to travel and work at other locations within the UK.

You will need to be a qualified veterinary surgeon and hold, or be willing to take, the Improve International OCQ courses ES, EX and PX. We can support a skilled worker visa application if required. A full driving license and own car are essential.

Starting salary range from minimum £42,000 (depending on experience, salary for new Grads may be a lower starting rate.)
