Job Description

Large Animal Vet Surgeon. £53k – £73k DOE. Winton / Gore.  New Zealand.

You’re a great vet, an experienced vet with an adventurous side who is starting to get itchy feet.

You’ve thought about it for a while and decided to take the plunge, move overseas to learn, grow and utilise those skills.

What if we told you we are working with a rural vet practice proud to serve its community, still maintaining that crucial family feel, either based in Winton or Gore and they are recruiting?

With walks, shops, restaurants, golf, fishing, and areas of outstanding natural beauty on your doorstep, not to mention skiing in the mountains this can be a role built around your lifestyle.

About our client:

Vet South have two veterinary practices looking to increase their workforce, specifically in the large animal space, however they are open to mixed positions.

These clinics are proud to serve their communities, get amongst the locals and enjoy a great work life balance while still maintaining that crucial family feel.

They  provide an extensive range of veterinary services to companion animals, working dogs, dairy clients and other production animals. They partner with VetNZ to receive the best HR, IT, Marketing & Finance support they can get.

Developing a culture of ‘team first,’ where everyone pulls together when there’s work, and relaxes when it’s time, is key here.  A strong team with a real focus on well-being who want their best for patient and practice.

Due to growth it’s a four-year experienced large vet they require but they will take less, it’s the right person they want. You’ll develop as a vet and gain experience by working on your own cases. See things through with plenty of mentoring from senior vets.

You will be working a 42.5 hours week with a sensible OOH rota in place.

So, what’s in to for you?  From  £53k -£73k per annum DOE with yearly reviews to ensure it remains in the higher level of vet remuneration in NZ.  A generous CPD budget – 25% can be used for well-being (some people have bought ski passes with their well-being portion!)

A relocation allowance is provided, vet fees paid, and staff discounts. A work vehicle is provided throughout the employment. For the first 4 weeks, this can be for personal use until you purchase your own. 4 weeks annual leave.

There is also 6 weeks of free accommodation on arrival.  Plus there’s plenty of ‘food for good,’ when on the go, fruit, nibbles and snacks to keep you going.

Choosing to move abroad is a big decision. With its high quality of life, stunning natural landscapes, outdoor lifestyle and a more relaxed pace of living New Zealand has the lot!

So, what’s next?

Well, we can’t get the whole story in a job ad so send your CV – don’t worry if it’s not up to date to chris@vetfinders.co.uk along with any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.

Become a better vet on the other side of the world.
