Job Description

If you’d like to work in a place where you have time to practice the way you want, with appreciative clients, and a staff that works to get everyone home on time… read on!

About the clinic and clientele:

Thornton Animal Clinic is deeply rooted in the community with a clientele that most clinics wish they had.  The community has welcomed the new owner (Dr. Nickerson) and new treatment modalities/care with open arms.  We are proudly independent, and we embrace this ability to be nimble and try new things, welcome new traditions, or work with community initiatives without red tape!

We are lucky to have incredible staff members who have been with the clinic for multiple years. Our staff is younger, and all of them have been part of the transition to new ownership, embracing change and new treatment options with eagerness. The clinic is in a phase of growth, and we are excited to be growing the equine side of the business. if equine isn’t your thing, that is perfectly fine as there is no expectation in this role of working on the equine side unless desired.

We have several fabulous emergency clinics nearby, and we do not do on call.

We are close by to Barrie, ON, and only a short drive to Toronto.  Ski hills, hiking, ski-doo/ four wheeler trails, horse trails, and mountain biking surround our area.  If you’re not from the area, Thornton really offers the best of small town living with proximity to all amenities, flights etc.  Our school system is excellent with many great elementary and secondary schools nearby.

Our clients:

Our clients care deeply about our success, and they appreciate our advice and expertise. Many of them are small business owners too, and they “get it”. You’ll hear “thank you” more than anything else, and our clients appreciate being partners in their pet’s health and making informed decisions together with us.  They are kind, and they enjoy talking to our team, stopping by with treats, or to weigh their dog and get a treat to make the pet’s next visit more positive.

 About the role:

In this role, you’ll be providing preventative health care, and seeing primary care cases in our lovely hospital.  Surgery is currently 2 mornings per week, but there is room to increase capabilities and surgery amounts if you are interested.  In fact, you are welcome to bring your interests and special skills whatever they are.  You’ll work alongside our team of highly supportive and trained staff who know the clients well and have their trust to make your transition easier.  You’ll be practicing with one other veterinarian, the owner, and you’ll love the level of autonomy you’ll be afforded in this environment.  Support, case discussions, and collaboration is of course part of the every day but never worry that you’ll be micromanaged!  We want to give you the support you need to be excellent, and build an environment where everyone has a life they love in and outside of work.

And PS- no Saturday shifts!

Interested?

We’d love to have a quick chat or text with you to answer any questions. We are looking forward to adding you to our team and community.

And make sure to watch back Adrian’s Keyword Saturday to help you with your application.
