  • Company overview

We are part of the Pets at Home Group plc, which includes Pets at Home, Vets4Pets and The Groom Room. Together, we are the UK’s leading pet care business, providing pet owners with everything they need to be able to look after their pets.

Vets4Pets is proud to be one of the largest veterinary groups in the UK with a national network of practices (of all shapes and sizes) run by partners who enjoy clinical freedom and the autonomy to do things their way. The majority are accredited on the RCVS Practice Standards scheme, and several have also received Cat Friendly Clinic Gold and Silver accreditation from ISFM and Rabbit Friendly Gold and Silver accreditation from the RWAF. Some of our practices have also received awards from outside the veterinary industry, such as Vets4Pets Alsager, which in 2019, became the first veterinary practice in the UK to receive the Autism Friendly Award from the National Autistic Society.

  • What makes your organization a great place to work?

Yes we put pets first. But it’s how we do that that’s most important: we support our colleagues to work with pride and passion, to bring honesty and integrity to work every day, and to do it all with a sense of fun and fearlessness. We never shy away from having the important conversations and doing what we say we’ll do.

So our behaviours are more than what we do: they make us who we are.

We put people at the very heart of everything we do, so while you’re making sure the nation’s pets and their people are well-looked after, it’s only fair that you’re well-looked after too.

We know that everyone has different priorities at different points in their lives. Which is why we offer a varied range of rewards and benefits that make up our unique Total Reward Package. Our range of benefits enables us to support all our colleagues at different life stages, and in different financial circumstances, as you develop your career with us.

  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives you have

    Pets just see people

And just like pets, whatever your background or heritage, how you look or choose to express yourself, we will welcome you. Whether you’re visiting our stores or applying for one of our jobs, our inclusion vision is that everyone’s welcome. We strive to break down barriers, attract and develop diverse talent and create a culture that allows everyone to the best they can be whatever their race or ethnic background, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status or religious beliefs. At Pets at Home, you’ll feel welcome, supported, and can realise your full potential.

  • Sustainability initiatives you have in the workplace

Our vision is to become the most responsible pet care business in the world

Our Better World Pledge strategy is our commitment to create a better world for pets and the people who love them.

We know we’re better with pets. It’s an ethos that underpins the work we do right across our Group. Our purpose is about delivering exceptional care for pets and their owners, but it’s just as important to us that we do the best thing for them in the most sustainable and ethical ways.

Our social value strategy, Our Better World Pledge has three areas of focus – Pet, People and Planet. Each of those areas has a high-level long-term goal. By 2030, we want to positively impact the life of every pet in the UK. Following the same timescale, we want to enhance the lives of one million people through our shared love of pets – including all the people who work for us. And from a planet perspective by 2040, we aim to have a net zero carbon impact on the planet through our own business and also our products and services and their supply chains.

We’ve achieved a lot already. We’ve raised over £50m since 2006 though the Pets at Home Foundation and VIP lifelines, our unique customer loyalty scheme. And during the pandemic we supported pet rescues up and down the UK through an emergency grant programme of £2m to help them cover their running costs. We have also offered a 10% discount for NHS employees.

We’ve continued to take our expertise out into the community to spread the word about the benefits of pet ownership too. We have been carbon neutral in relation to our buildings energy since 2017 because we have been buying renewable energy and mitigating the small amount of remaining buildings energy. And we’re always looking for new ways to minimise waste for example by backhauling all of our animal bedding for recycling.

Company Description

We’re all for pets, what we do matters for pet owners across the UK.  This is more than a business, it’s a responsibility.  It’s a promise and commitment we make each day to provide excellent care for each pet that comes through our door.

Every colleague has a part to play to ensure that we deliver on this commitment every day. Our love and understanding of pets led us to develop our long-term goal to improve the life of every pet in the UK.

This covers not only the pets in our care and the pets of the 8m plus active consumers that buy our products and services but also the pets that we can help through our charity work and through educating and advocating for change in society and the wider pet care and veterinary industry.

We’re a nation mad about pets, and we go to any lengths to keep them happy and healthy. It’s a love with no bounds and no boundaries.

We put pets first; it’s not simply a statement, its’ our driving principle.
