Watch back our Interview the Team:

St David’s Poultry Team was founded in 2006 by Directors Richard Turner and Alan Beynon. We are now the leading and largest independent poultry veterinary practice in UK and Ireland, with 15 practice bases and combining over 250 years of poultry veterinary experience. We have an established team of 25 vets, 10 field services technicians, in-house laboratories including microbiologists, as well as dispensary and office support teams.

We provide comprehensive veterinary services to the broiler, layer, turkey and game bird sectors and are continually expanding due to the quality and integrity of our service, our drive to innovate and the strength of our client relationships. We work with a large proportion of the UK and Ireland’s broiler industry – including large integrators – and have responsibility for the majority of layers across the UK.

    Our focus is on:

    • Personal, on-farm approach
    • Proactive and practical advice
    • Preventative care
    • Tailored health plans delivering the right support, at the right time, in a way that is economically balanced
    • Antibiotic reduction
    • Long-term client relationships
    • Innovation: Developing solutions to complement and improve the services we offer and flock health, welfare and performance
    • UK and international consultancy

To support the work we do, we also have a number of complementary, associated businesses including:

    • Applied Bacterial Control Ltd: Solutions for water sanitisation and gut health aimed at controlling the use of antibiotics for better animal health, welfare and performance
    • FarmWater: Water sanitisation products and services
    • Poultry Pharm: NoN-prescription product range including probiotics, vitamins, essential oils and in-feed premixes.
    • The Chicken Vet: An online service for domestic owners and veterinary advice for associated practices
  • Company values

St David’s Poultry truly lives its core values of independence, integrity and innovation.

As one of the few remaining independent poultry practices, independence is at the very heart of us and is echoed throughout relationships with our customers and our people. Our vet team have clinical freedom without corporate influence, targets or time constraints. As a business, we have the freedom and flexibility to respond individually and create successful relationships through communication and trust, both internally and externally.

Our culture fosters innovative thinking, and we encourage anyone who has a new and good business or clinical concept to develop these, and we provide support where we can in order to facilitate this.

Integrity to us is as simple as doing what’s right and treating people in the right way. We believe in supporting and investing in people’s career journey, helping them realise their goals.

  • What makes your organization a great place to work?

The poultry sector is a well-integrated, forward-thinking and progressive sector, that enables vets to continually evolve their approach to bird health, welfare and performance.

Poultry veterinary work tends to be task-based rather than time constrained, which is unusual in the veterinary profession, and the industry respects, supports and understands the importance of the role of vets.

Being independent, means that you will have the freedom to choose the best clinical care paths. We treat our people are individuals and invest in their careers as we see our team as core to our success.

“I love working within an enthusiastic, diverse and supportive team in an innovative sector. I am practising more veterinary medicine now than in all my years in mixed practice.” Dana Simpson, Poultry Vet, St David’s Poultry Team

“It’s almost 4 years since I joined St David’s Poultry Team, 4 years since I fell back in love with being a vet!”
St David’s Poultry Team is a top employer they care and want the best for each and every one of their employees.

Too often I hear stories from friends and family members about poor treatment of themselves and/or colleagues by their employers and obsolete upper management within the veterinary industry – is it any wonder the veterinary profession is on its knees.

If you want to experience true happiness within the veterinary industry, join St Davids Poultry Team!

You will work with happy vets, happy field services teams and the best HR, administration and dispensary teams!

Take the advice of a very happy vet 🙂”

Aonghus Lane, Regional Lead Vet, St David’s Poultry Team
