    Organisational background

The practice was formed in Keighley in 1877 and moved to purpose-built premises on Aireworth Road in 1994. We have developed from being a traditional mixed practice into a modern, progressive team-focused practice.

    Organisation aims & mission

We aim to be a great workplace and provide outstanding care for our clients’ animals. We strive to maintain and develop our reputation as the stand-out first-opinion veterinary practice in our community.

  • Company values

    Friendly

We treat our clients and colleagues like we would our family and friends – with honesty and integrity. We have an open and just culture where problems can be shared and opinions offered.

    Helpful

We will do everything we can to help resolve problems for our patients, clients and colleagues.

    Knowledgeable

We strive for excellence in the level of care we provide. We seek out and nurture continual improvement in the standards of the work we do. We invest in our team and facilities to develop them and to help us do the best job possible.

    Caring

We do this job because we love animals and are privileged to be able to work with them day-to-day. We recognise this can be a very stressful job. We do all we can to limit the impact this has on our team. We care about each other and support each other as though our colleagues were family members.

Watch back our live discussion ‘Mentorship Moments’, New Grad Calum and Clinical Director Peter discuss the importance of the mentor-mentee relationship and how new grads can take control of their growth and development:

  • What makes your organization a great place to work?
    • We work hard to provide excellent working conditions and remuneration/benefits packages.
    • We take the safety of our team very seriously, prioritising this over financial gain during the ongoing pandemic.
    • We are open to, and happy to discuss flexible working arrangements.
    • We look after each other and encourage wellbeing initiatives within the team – we try to get outside in good weather and keep active. We work hard to ensure adequate rest breaks and lunch breaks are provided – we have good facilities at work to make sure breaks are comfortable (we even have a massage chair!)
    • We have an open and just culture where everyone’s opinions are listened to and respected. We communicate well. Through regular meetings and discussions on Quality Improvement, we can discuss errors and outcomes objectively and constructively. We are approachable, honest and supportive in our day-to-day communications.
    • We invest in our facilities and team to allow them to do the best job possible.

  • Describe an ideal employee at your organization

We recognise no two team members are the same – we hope to be able to identify and nurture individual skills and interests.

Someone who is passionate about clinical standards and is open to ongoing improvement would fit in well. We function well as a team and need all employees to contribute to the team effort.
