    Organisational background

Tweed House was established in 1981 by Gil Averis.

In 1999 the Yeadon branch was expanded and extensive alterations were carried out to provide excellent facilities for our patients and veterinary staff.

Tweed House also has a branch surgery at Pudsey. This began as a small satellite surgery in 1991 and has expanded into a busy surgery backed by our full hospitalisation and surgery facilities based in Yeadon.

In August 2011, Tweed House was taken over by Katie and Andrew Price after six years of Andrew being a veterinary surgeon at the practice. They aim to continue the high standard of veterinary care that has always been provided by Tweed House.

    Organisation aims & mission

Tweed House Veterinary Surgery is a family-run company, which aims to provide comprehensive small animal veterinary care to the communities of North-West Leeds and the surrounding areas.

    • We strive to serve the community through the education of pet owners, the general public, and our employees alike.
    • We will always charge a fair price for the care we provide so that we can continuously improve through reinvestment in new services, technologies, and employee education.
    • This will allow our employees to develop their careers and will ensure we always provide the best service to the community.

  • Company values

We aim to provide ‘modern medicine with traditional values’. We have a great team of experienced vets and nurses and are also a training practice with a great reputation, so we have a good record of helping people start their careers.

As an independent practice we are not encumbered by corporate targets and are able to allow the development of clinical freedom within a framework of a learning environment.

We work closely with certificate holders in medicine, ultrasonography, ophthalmology, and dermatology. We have experienced surgeons who are able to perform orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures. All this means that we are able to provide a comprehensive service to the local pet population whilst being backed up by extensive expert knowledge.

  • What makes your organization a great place to work?

I think this is best described by Scott, one of our vets:

“What a brilliant place to be and a terrific team to be part of! Working alongside experienced vets with diverse skills that complement each other, and benefiting from the unstinting help of our excellent nurses, we enjoy practicing high-quality veterinary medicine.

Supported personally, trusted with autonomy, equipped professionally, utilising superb surgical and diagnostic kit, and encouraged to learn and develop.

Unencumbered by corporate ‘men in suits’ but actually empowered to practice modern medicine with traditional values, together we get to simply enjoy helping pets and their owners – the reason we became vets in the first place!”

  • Describe an ideal employee at your organization

For us it about being the ‘right person’.

Someone who shares in our values of providing excellent quality veterinary care along with being seen as a friendly, approachable local practice. We are in a lovely part of the world, near to the Dales and the city. We are looking for someone who appreciates this very special part of Yorkshire.

In return we will give you a supportive, learning environment, surrounded by a great team, and a role that is not defined by arbitrary targets.
