    Organisational background

Glasgow Equine Practice was launched in June 2020 as a two-person 1st opinion practice based at the Glasgow Equine Hospital – the teaching hospital of the University of Glasgow’s School of Veterinary Medicine. The initial plan was to start small, but the success of this young practice has seen it grow rapidly and take on two part-time, experienced vets at the start of 2022.

    Organisation aims & mission

The physical integration of Glasgow Equine Practice and the hospital underpins the aim to provide genuinely joined up and high-quality care for our patients and their owners, and a broad, high quality, learning experience for our students.

The sharing of clinical facilities and equipment, office space and social areas, reflects the way practice and hospital staff work together. We share the same aims and recognise that together we make better progress towards them (there’s always room for improvement!) than separately.

Just imagine having your “own” specialists to chat to and being able to easily check on the progress of referred cases because they are in “your” hospital. We are proud to be part of the University of Glasgow and to contribute to making a difference.
